It’s easy. It’s easy to get angry; to jump to conclusions; to set the bar too high. It’s easy to tie your shoes, to wake up after a good night’s sleep, or to laugh at the children playing in the sprinklers. It’s easy to fall in love; to believe in those three words that leave you so vulnerable. It’s easy to dream; to think; to imagine; to hope for another day of adventure. It’s easy to get lost; in the world; in thoughts; in the streets. It’s easy to forget to say I’m sorry, or that you might have made a mistake. It’s easy to remember your favorite movie; to be able to quote every line. It’s easy to dance under the moonlight. It’s easy to eat that last piece of cake.
But no one ever said it was easy to move on; to wake up every morning and want to take those breaths. No one ever told you it was easy to bear the pain of heartbreak; of disappointment; of the loss of trust. They never said it was easy to fake the smile or take a chance. It was never easy to say goodbye; to have that last kiss; to drive away; to take that last look. No one ever said it was easy to take the first step; to make that leap of faith. They never said it was easy to overcome the obstacles; to be the bigger person; to learn from the mistakes. It’s never easy to shake the memories away; to leave the past behind. It was never easy to walk away.
